Billion-Dollar Coach

Brad Arnett's NX Level Is the Summer Home of NFL Superstars For A Reason

JJ Watt posted the photo and the caption hit like a clean tackle.

"Absurd group training with Brad at NX Level this offseason. All-Pros, Pro Bowls, over a billion in contracts. Nothing new, but still crazy. Wisconsin proud."

    — JJ Watt

Look at the picture. Grown men who get paid to destroy opposing offenses are on the turf in Waukesha, Wisconsin, doing the unglamorous work. Some on their backs. Some pushing. Some grinding through the kind of session that separates the ones who talk about work from the ones who actually do it. No Hollywood lighting. No influencer filters. Just a business-park gym, artificial turf, and the same coach who has been there since most of them were kids.

That is NX Level. And the man at the center of it is Brad Arnett.

This is not another story about how Brad forged JJ Watt's physique or the family fire that runs through the Watt brothers. Those chapters already exist on IDNTY. This is about the community that grew around one coach in one unassuming building in Wisconsin — and why, every summer, players with more than a billion dollars in combined contracts still come home to get better. More importantly, it is about the fact that IDNTY members can now step into that same system.

From the Line to the Weight Room

Brad Arnett was a four-year letterwinner and starter on the defensive line at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. All-conference. All-American recognition from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Hall of Fame inductee in 2013. He understood the game from the inside out — what it felt like to be the one getting blocked, what it took to keep showing up when the body was already cooked.

He started coaching strength and conditioning while still at Whitewater. Master's in kinesiology from Minnesota. Director of Olympic sports strength and conditioning there. Then Assistant Athletic Director for strength and conditioning at the University of Arizona, overseeing football, basketball, and more than a dozen other programs. By his late twenties he was already deep in the college system.

In 2005 he walked away from that world and opened NX Level Sports Performance in Waukesha. The building sits in a business park. Nothing flashy. No giant neon signs. Just a place where the work happens. He has trained athletes from the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, PGA, UFC, Olympians, and more. The through-line has never been fame. It has been the belief that if you get the fundamentals right — movement quality, strength that transfers, recovery that lasts, and an attitude that does not negotiate — you give athletes a real chance at longevity and second and third contracts.

The Watts were early. JJ started as a high-school kid. TJ and Derek followed. They kept coming back. So did others. Over time NX Level stopped being just a gym and became a summer destination for professionals who could train anywhere in the country and still chose Wisconsin.

The Culture That Draws a Billion Dollars in NFL Contracts

What makes the place different is not secret exercises. It is the standard.

Sessions are small. Coaches push. The details matter more than the highlight-reel lifts. Core work that most people skip. Mobility that feels boring until you realize it is why you can still play at a high level in year eight or ten. Sled pushes when the legs are already smoked. Football-specific movement when it would be easier to just load a bar and chase numbers. Arnett has said for years that he is not only trying to help a player test well at the combine or look good in July. He is trying to give them tools that keep them in the league.

JJ Watt has been open about the trust. After injuries and conservative rehab protocols, he came back to Brad and essentially said enough tiptoeing. They trained the way they used to.

"We're going to train this offseason like we used to, we're going to train like the old days and we're gonna train our asses off — and I'm going to go into that season gangbusters."

    — JJ Watt, to ESPN

He has also said, simply and directly: "You and NX have changed many lives along the way and many more yet to come. Love you and appreciate you brother."

TJ Watt has described the same accountability in his own words.

"When it comes down to Sunday, if I have any doubts — which I never do — about how I'm going to play or if I'm prepared, I can look back on today and be like, 'I pushed myself to the absolute max on a Tuesday at NX Level in the middle of summer when nobody cares.' That's what's going to get me through today, and that's why I do it."

    — TJ Watt

On the little things that look monotonous: "It may look boring, but a lot of people get bored with little details and that's how you be successful. You just have to not get so caught up in the redundancy. You have to understand why you're doing all these little things, because if you're not doing all the little details, someone out there is."

That is the culture. Pros who could coast still show up and compete against each other in the same drills. Younger players get pulled up by the standard. The room itself becomes the accountability partner.

    A Real Session

A typical high-level group day under Arnett does not start with max effort. It starts with the things that keep bodies available.

    01

    Ground-Based Prep

Tall-kneeling arm raises, glute activation, single-leg calf raises, ankle mobility.

    02

    Core That Isn't Just Sit-Ups

Curl-ups, bird-dog variations, and carries that light up the adductors, obliques, glutes, and lats.

    03

    Sport-Specific Strength & Power

Variations that build force without beating the joints into the ground.

    04

    Sled, Tire & Transfer Work

Grind work that mimics a game, plus short sprints and change-of-direction that actually transfer.

    05

    Conditioning With No Doubt

The session finishes with the kind of work that leaves no question the effort was real.

The intensity is individual. The standard is collective. You do not get to hide in a big group. You also do not get pampered regardless of how many trophies you have. Arnett's long-time athletes talk about the way he sees what needs fixing immediately and addresses it so the short windows of offseason time are not wasted.

Now It's Your Turn: The NX Level Performance Program for IDNTY Members

Here is the part that changes everything for the IDNTY community.

Brad Arnett and NX Level have opened a direct pathway for IDNTY members. The same coach who has trained NFL legends since 1993 — the same system that helped turn a 15-year-old prospect into a three-time Defensive Player of the Year and that still draws All-Pros and Pro Bowlers with over a billion dollars in contracts every summer — is now available to the athletes, competitors, and high-performers inside IDNTY.

The program is built around Brad's proven approach: assessment-driven programming, small-group intensity, relentless attention to the details that keep athletes available and improving, and the long-view mindset that prioritizes career longevity over short-term flash. It is the same environment that produced the photo JJ Watt posted. It is the same standard that made Wisconsin the unlikely summer headquarters for some of the highest-paid and most accomplished players in football.

This is not a watered-down version. It is access to the NX Level Performance experience through the IDNTY platform. Full details on structure, how the program works, pricing, and how to get started are live at teamidnty.com/bradarnett. The page lays out the opportunity clearly: meet Brad, understand the program, review pricing, and get started.

For IDNTY members who have been reading these stories and wondering how to move from inspiration to implementation, this is the bridge. The community that has been quietly building elite athletes in a Wisconsin business park is no longer limited to those who can fly in for the summer. It is open.

What IDNTY Readers Can Learn from NX Level

Brad Arnett's community did not happen by accident. Here are the core principles of NX Level that you can take with you every day.

    01

Choose a Standard and Protect It

NX Level works because the expectation is clear and non-negotiable. Decide what "good enough" looks like in your training and stop negotiating with yourself on the days you do not feel like it.

    02

Do the Boring Work That Keeps You Available

The mobility, the core activation, the prehab that looks monotonous is the reason pros can still train hard years into their careers. Build a non-negotiable block of that work into every session — or let Brad's system do it with you.

    03

Train With People Who Raise the Floor

The group effect is real. Surround yourself with athletes or training partners who will not let the standard drop. The NX Level Performance program gives IDNTY members a direct line into that environment.

    04

Make the Details the Point, Not the Afterthought

TJ Watt's line about little details is the whole game. Technique, tempo, recovery habits, sleep, nutrition consistency — these are not extras. They are the difference between a good summer and a career-extending one.

    05

Work Like You Are Still Underpaid

Arnett's reminder to JJ after the big contract is pure. Status and money can soften the edge. The ones who last refuse to let that happen.

    06

Build Something That Outlasts Any One Goal

NX Level is bigger than any one goal or player who walks through the door. Through IDNTY, that same long-view system is now available to you.

The photo JJ Watt posted is not really about the billion dollars. It is about a coach in Wisconsin who has spent two decades making the hard work the normal work, and a group of athletes who still choose that standard every summer.

    Wisconsin proud.
